A city apartment at the heart of Amsterdam’s Oud West, located on Bilderdijkstraat.

Taking inspiration from a botanical garden concept, a minimal aesthetic in combination with fresh greenery and a natural material palette create a balanced and inviting space.

Hestia were invited to design a contemporary living space which incorporated the client’s existing furniture including an antique cabinet and WW1 chest. A space in which a professional couple can retreat from the bustle of the city whilst retaining the gezellig spirit of Amsterdam.

The brief asked for a more cohesive space, unifying all furniture pieces within a considered design concept. To replan the living and dining area for maximum impact whilst allowing in more light; brightening the space where possible.

Taking inspiration from a botanical garden concept, a minimal aesthetic in combination with fresh greenery and a natural material palette create a balanced and inviting space.

Many of the surfaces and furniture pieces have been chosen with a focus on texture which means the light will create a softer, warmer interplay of light and shadow.

Neither minimalist or fussy, a carefully curated collection of objects create an atmosphere of warmth without becoming over-styled. The interior scheme comprises of a combination of new and existing furniture pieces with a pop of colour afforded simply by the use of living plants.
